The Chinese Culture Institute (CCI) and a number of local and national organizations welcomed the Year of the Rooster in style, with an event featuring a traditional Chinese banquet-style dinner, with traditional Chinese music and artistic performances, calligraphy, traditional costumes, and Chinese painting demonstrations.

The event kicked off with welcoming remarks from CCI Chair Cindy Shao.  Cindy is also the President of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC).  She has been very active and successful in bringing different initiatives and organizations together in our community. Recognition was be provided with remarks from representatives from the offices of Sen. Mark Warner, Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, Congressman John Sarbanes, and Congressman Gerry Connolly, along with Christina Poy of the Maryland Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, Kathy Smith of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and Stella Choi of The Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe, etc.   Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 5.42.36 PM

Concentria Studios, LLC was proud to be a sponsor of The Chinese Culture Institute (CCI)’s annual Lunar New Year Banquet on this wonderful day, sharing the traditional Chinese cultures and supporting the initiatives in our local community.

The 9-course banquet includes unique Chinese dishes such as West Lake beef soup and Szechuan pepper chicken provided by Asian Delight of Fairfax, VA. 

The extensive cultural program included award presentations and a range of artistic performances that won many rounds of applauses. Traditional Chinese dress styles were modeled by Han Couture, artist Jenny Wang demonstrated Chinese painting, Lynda Zhang performed a traditional tea ceremony, master calligrapher John Shun-Chieh Wang demonstrated the art of Chinese calligraphy, and musical performances included traditional Guzheng music by local musician Vicky Chang and Yi dance music by Borong Tsai.  Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 5.41.37 PM

A silent auction and raffle was held with proceeds from the event supporting the Chinese Culture Scholarship Fund.
